With dozens of castles, fortresses, historical sites and beautiful parks around Zagreb, the possibilities are endless for day trips. We've put together a few popular sites and destinations into prepackaged tours, but if you have other cities/sites in mind, we'd be happy to put together a program that suits you best. All of our day trips include round trip transportation in only our finest vehicles. We will pick you up and drop you off at any location in Zagreb that's convenient for you. Also included in our day trip packages are entrance fees to parks/sites/museums, English-speaking guides, either lunch or dinner, and any extra details listed in the tour.
Our guides are very friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and happy to answer all of your questions throughout the day. Be sure to ask, enjoy, and soak up all of the history and culture the Zagreb region has to offer.

Here are our top 10 day trips within an hour drive
We can customize a day trip to any of these places (and others), so just let us know which ones you're interested in!
1. Samobor - Walk around the quaint little town and along the river, then sit for coffee and try their famous dessert, Kremsnita, at “U Prolazu” on the main square.
2. Varazdin - Walk around the center and admire the unique architecture, have a coffee at a cafe overlooking the castle on Miljenka Stančića Square, visit the fortress and enter the museum inside if you wish!
3. Krasograd - Have a picnic and watch your kids play on several outdoor playgrounds, visit the horses, feed the ducks, have lunch at the lovely restaurant on the grounds, your kids can also drive little electric cars or jump on the trampolines there for a small fee.
4. Trakoscan Castle - Visit the castle, walk the pathway around the small lake behind the castle, enjoy the beautiful scenery, you can also rent a small pedal boat to enjoy the lake at your leisure (and squeeze in some exercise, too).
5. Sljeme - Enjoy the breathtaking views of Zagreb from the top of the mountain, have some traditional mountain food at the restaurant at the peak, ski if it’s winter time, hike or bike to the top and back down if you’re up for it in the other seasons (you can also take the bus one or both directions)
6. Homeland War Museum - Explore the indoor part of the museum, as well as the open-air section, where you can see many amazing artifacts from the war (tanks, planes, etc.)
7. Veliki Tabor Castle - The newly restored Dvor Veliki, is one of the best known castles in Croatia. It’s beautiful, interesting and educational! My favorite part was learning about the love story and legend of Veronika Desinicka. It’s also interesting to see the artifacts that span through some of the history of the castle.
8. Krapina Neanderthal Museum - This museum is so interesting (I think one of the best in Croatia) with all of the educational, interactive displays, explaining human history and evolution. There are also some multimedia presentations, and all of the descriptions and exhibits are nicely put together.
9. Kumrovec - The Staro Selo Museum in Kumrovec gives a great, authentic representation of living and working in the past, and is more of an open-air museum, as you can wander from one “house” or “shop” to the next throughout the village.
10. Kezele Rural Tourism Estate - Kezele is a restaurant, farm, winery and guesthouse all wrapped up into one. We’ve been here a few times, as it’s a great little weekend day trip to get some fresh country air and a delicious “home cooked” style of meal (plus, they have tasty wine). They also have guest houses if you want to make a weekend out of it, although I can’t comment on the rooms as we’ve never stayed overnight.

11. *Plitvice Lakes (which is not 1hr drive) - There is also Plitvice Lakes, but that's about a 2hr drive from Zagreb. Plitvice Lakes is a stunning National Park, filled with waterfalls, picturesque scenery, lakes, rivers, streams, and forests.
