Looking for nudist or naturist beaches in Croatia where you can swim, sunbathe and enjoy the day freely? Here is a list of the top 15 spots for naturism along the Adriatic Sea, each with a map so you can see precisely where they are (sometimes they’re hard to find!).

There are actually over 100 nudist beaches throughout the country, so there are plenty to choose from, but here’s a narrowed-down list to give you an idea, and help you sort out some of the best.

Just a quick note to mention that naturist beaches in Croatia are labelled with FKK, which is short for Freikorperkultur (which is a German naturist movement that translates to ‘free body culture’). Keep your eye out for those three letters, then you can strip down to your birthday suit and enjoy the clean and clear waters of the Adriatic!

1. Beach Jerolim (Paklenski Islands near Hvar)

Sveti Jerolim Island is a small island off the coast of Hvar and has about 2.5km of beautiful coastline. It’s now a world famous naturist island and beach that celebrates naturism.  There is plenty of privacy and shade with the refreshing pine forests around, and it’s very easy to get to by taxi boat from Hvar Island.

Here is a link to a map:   https://www.google.com/maps/search/jerolim+beach/@43.158915,16.4302783,16z/data=!3m1!4b1

2. Donji Bili Bok FKK, Proizd Island (off the coast of Korcula Island)

Proizd is a perfect escape for the day to a small, peaceful, uninhabited island with 4 beaches (one of which is naturist). The island has a pine forest, with paths that connect the 4 different beaches. The water at every beach is crystal clear, and clean with stunning shades of blue.

This is more of a wild island, and only has one bar and restaurant, so go prepared for the day. There is a ferry boat that goes back and forth, but it doesn’t go very frequently. The other option is taking a water taxi.

Here’s a link to a map:
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Donji+bili+bok+FKK/@42.9849545,16.6110529,15z/data=!4m5!3m4!1s0x0:0x3779b0b56ba4bb9!8m2!3d42.9849545!4d16.6110529

3. Nugal Beach (near Makarska)

This beach is a little less crowded because it’s a bit of a walk to get there (through a some-what shaded path that winds along the coast) from the center of Makarska. Upon arrival, you’ll find a peaceful beach with crystal clear water, as well as some shade from surrounding trees, which is great!

It’s only partially naturist, so keep that in mind when making your decision. Since this is quite a secluded beach, you’ll have to come prepared, as there aren’t restaurants, bars or cafes around to grab a bite to eat or drink.

Here is a link to a map:

4. Cigrade Beach (Murter Island)

This lovely (partly-naturist) beach is located in a cove on the southern side of Murter Island. It’s a beautiful, clean beach and it’s very easy to get to (no hiking or climbing down steep mountainsides required). It also makes for a great day trip, as you can buy food and drink, so no need to pack everything for the day if you’d rather pick up something throughout the day.

Here is a link to a map:
https://www.google.com/maps/search/cigrada+plaza/@43.8072688,15.5879522,17z/data=!3m1!4b1

5. Kandarola Beach (Rab Island)

Kandarola Beach is located on Rab Island and is one of the oldest naturist beaches in Europe. It’s well equipped with amenities like showers, toilets and a place to eat, so it makes for a great day trip without having to bring everything with you. There is also some shade from the pine trees around, so if you don’t have a beach umbrella, that’s something you’ll surely appreciate.

6. Bunculuka (Krk Island)

Bunculuka is a naturist camp on Krk Island in Baska. The camp has a beautiful naturist beach full of white pebbles and an easy entrance into the water, so it’s great for kids. Since it’s part of a campsite, there are many amenities and facilities, so it’s easy to stay for the day!

7. Sahara Beach (Rab Island)

Sahara Beach is a sandy naturist beach in Lopar, on Rab Island, and it’s located near one of the most well-known sandy beaches in Croatia (Paradise Beach). It’s a great option because of its pine trees that provide some shade from the summer sun. Bring your own drinks, food and necessities, because there aren’t any shops or cafes on this beach!

8. Vrulja Beach (Makarska)

Vrulja Beach is located in Vrulja Cove, in Brela, which is a part of Makarska Riviera. It’s not the easiest beach to get to, but it’s worth the trek because it’s a stunning, natural, pebbly beach with incredible views and clean water. It’s probably best to hire a boat for the day to explore this and other nearby beaches!

9. Stipanska Beach (Marinkovac Island, off the coast of Hvar)

Stipanska is a naturist beach located on a little island, Marinkovac (part of the Pakleni Islands) off the coast of Hvar. It’s easy to get to by taxi boat from Hvar, and the island has many amenities, as it’s home to the very popular bar “Carpe Diem.” There are showers, a nice restaurant and a shop you can visit.

Follow this link for a map:

10. Lokrum (Lokrum Island)

If you find yourself in Dubrovnik, looking for a naturist escape, make your way over to Lokrum Island, which is just a short water taxi ride away. There is a beautiful naturist beach in the southeast part of the island where you can spend the day away from the crowds.

Here is a link to the map:
https://www.google.com/maps/place/HKK+beach/@42.6224934,18.1202704,17z/data=!4m13!1m7!3m6!1s0x134c0b474fb2ed0b:0x2b4ee23cfed4702e!2sLokrum!3b1!8m2!3d42.6310979!4d18.1176678!3m4!1s0x134c0b423f0f48b7:0x8e8e039519382f8a!8m2!3d42.6227267!4d18.1264269

11. Grdni Do Zuljana Beach (Peljesac Peninsula)

Grdni Do Zuljana is a stunning pebbly beach, a little north of Zuljana on the Peljesac Peninsula. The sea in the whole area is clean, crystal clear, and perfect for swimming and enjoying the day (nude or not). You can easily drive to the beach (and take a short walk to the beach), or you can of course reach the beach by boat.

12. Paklina Beach (Brac Island)

Paklina is a pebbly beach located on the southern side of Brac Island and is one of the most popular (and most beautiful) naturist / nudist beaches in Croatia (it’s also not far from the famous “Zlatni Rat” beach on the island, the one that changes its shape with the tide).

Paklina Beach is pretty private, but only about a ten minute walk away from all of the facilities of Zlatni Rat (cafes, food stands, etc.). There is also a lovely, refreshing pine forest covering much of that portion of the island, so it shouldn’t be hard to get some protection from the sun if needed.

Here is a link to a map:
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Beach/@43.2625324,16.6425147,14z/data=!4m8!1m2!2m1!1spaklina+beach+brac!3m4!1s0x0:0x38bd1089e9ab940c!8m2!3d43.2611124!4d16.6674185

13. Koversada Beach (Vrsar, Istria)

Koversada Beach is located between Porec and Rovinj, in the Istrian region of Croatia. Istria is home to many naturist / nudist beaches, but Koversada is actually one of Vrsar’s oldest beaches! It’s quite a long beach, stretching around 5km, where you’ll find a mix of pebbles, sand and rocks.

Follow this link for a map:
https://www.google.com/maps/place/beach+Koversada/@45.1345139,13.5974481,15z/data=!4m8!1m2!2m1!1skoversada+beach!3m4!1s0x0:0xd68dc0a1c3f918fc!8m2!3d45.132189!4d13.604317

14. Ostupa Beach (Orebic, Peljesac Peninsula)

Ostupa Beach is located on the Peljesac Peninsula. It’s a beautiful pebbly beach with a nice easy entry into the sea and some shady areas under the trees if you need a break from the sun. There is also a beach bar and shower, which not all naturist / nudist beaches are equipped with.

Click on the link for a map to Trstenica (which is close to Ostupa, because Ostupa isn’t actually on Google Maps):
https://www.google.com/maps/place/beach+Trstenica/@42.9783069,17.1873811,16z/data=!4m8!1m2!2m1!1sfkk+orebic!3m4!1s0x134a517f646ce55d:0x4481eccd5feef594!8m2!3d42.9783069!4d17.1917585

15. Konobe Beach (Krk Island)

This is a beautiful pebbly beach which is part of the naturist camp Konobe. It’s located about 3 km from Punat in the southwestern part of Krk Island. It’s great for families and has all of the amenities and facilities, since it’s located within a naturist campsite.

Here is a link to a map:
https://www.google.com/maps/place/Beach+Konobe/@44.9892918,14.6257583,17z/data=!3m1!4b1!4m5!3m4!1s0x47637371cd8abe01:0xe2bcdfc1db94480a!8m2!3d44.989288!4d14.6279523

We hope you’ve found this list helpful! If you want to do a bit more research, the places with the most nudist / naturist beaches are Krk Island, Hvar Island, Istria, Zadar and Dubrovnik. They say one in every 7 people who comes to Croatia, takes a naked dip in the Adriatic - will you be one of them? :)

We are coming from the U.S and looking to spend 4 to 5 days in Croatia. We want to be at a hotel that is close to a nudist beach. Hopefully on with many people so that we can make new friends. We will begin our travels in early September and continue to October, We will also want to visit other counties and cities (Rome, Prague and Palermo). Your suggestions please.
